Material excellence: 100% polypropylene absorbents

Our in-house manufactured absorbent products are exclusively crafted from polypropylene, a material renowned for its exceptional physical attributes. Boasting a high natural absorption capacity, polypropylene serves as the optimal choice for manufacturing our industrial absorbents. These absorbents can absorb multiple times their liquid mass.

Polypropylene exhibits remarkable resistance and adaptability to elevated temperatures. This unique property ensures that our absorbents do not combust at high temperatures; instead, they undergo contraction followed by melting.

Absorbent Pads

Absorbent pads prove invaluable for smaller spills or localised needs, providing a convenient solution for targeted use, such as placement under machinery during maintenance or in specific areas prone to spills.

Absorbent Rolls

Industrial absorbent rolls are the preferred choice in scenarios where there is a need for a longer or continuous absorbent material. Rolls are versatile and can be easily deployed and cut to the desired length, making them suitable for addressing larger spills or covering a larger surface area.

Absorbent Pillows & Socks

Absorbent pillows and socks offer targeted and versatile solutions for localised spills and confined spaces, providing higher absorption capacity and ease of placement. Their customisable nature makes them ideal for efficiently containing and addressing specific spill scenarios in industrial environments.

Drum Top Absorbent Pad

Emtez absorbent drum top pads are specially crafted to efficiently absorb spills whilst transferring oil to and from drums. Made in-house from absorbent non-woven polypropylene, these pads are ideal for managing and preventing environmental contamination.

Absorbent Granules

Absorbent Granules excels in swiftly and reliably absorbing hydrocarbons, oils, fuels, and other liquids. Its water-repellent feature allows effective use in wet conditions, making it suitable for roads and trafficked areas.

What are industrial absorbents used for?

There are two main functions served by absorbents: spill prevention and spill response. Our diverse range of absorbents can provide a highly effective solution for rapidly and safely containing and absorbing pollutants, dangerous substances, and toxic liquids. This not only safeguards the well-being of your people but also protects the environment from potential harm.

✓ Enhances safety by preventing slips, trips, and falls.

✓ Mitigates the risk of water and soil pollution.

✓ Safeguards the environment against potential harm.

✓ Stops the spread of hazardous liquids effectively.

✓ Minimises the inhalation of dangerous products, ensuring a safer working environment.

What types of absorbents are available?

Maintenance

Maintenance (Grey)

Distinguished by their grey colour, our maintenance absorbents offer an ideal solution for addressing general housekeeping concerns and are well-suited for a wide range of industrial applications and various liquid types.

Oil-Selective

Oil-selective (White)

Characterised by their white or blue colour, our oil-selective absorbents excel in efficiently soaking up hydrocarbons while repelling water. This unique capability makes them the ideal choice for addressing land-based spills during rainy conditions, extracting oil from water surfaces, or any application where selective absorption of hydrocarbons is paramount.

How to select the right absorbent?

Step 1: Identify the nature of the liquids to be absorbed

To select the appropriate absorbent, begin by categorising the nature of the liquids involved:

Grey: Suitable for a broad spectrum of liquids, including soluble substances, varnish, thinners, paint, water, and more.

Blue/White: Specifically formulated for hydrocarbons, demonstrating hydrophobic and oleophilic properties. Ideal for absorbing oils, fats, and their derivatives, excluding water.

Yellow: Geared towards chemical absorption, particularly effective for substances with a pH range of 1 to 3, such as acids.

By understanding the specific characteristics of the liquids in question, you can proceed to the next steps in selecting the correct absorbent for your needs.

Step 2: Choose the appropriate form of absorbent required

Consider the specific application and choose the suitable format of absorbent material accordingly:

Pads: Ideal for absorbing small volumes on limited surfaces, such as under leaking machines, in retention areas, as a preventative measure before dismantling, or for decontamination purposes.

Rolls: Designed to absorb large volumes on expansive surfaces, making them suitable for placement under leaking machines, in retention areas, or for decontamination needs.

Mats: Recommended for creating a protected passage area for pedestrians and rolling stock.

Pillows & Socks: Efficiently absorb a substantial quantity of liquid, with the added benefit of pollution containment.

Drum Top Pads: Primarily used to prevent spills and further contamination from the surface of drums, keeping the workspaces safe.

Containment Boom: Specialist absorbents, mainly employed to contain pollution on bodies of water. Booms, similar to dams, can also be utilised on the ground to halt large spills effectively.

Granules: Effective spill management, suitable on various surfaces, available in convenient transferable bags.

Tailoring the absorbent format to the specific application ensures maximum effectiveness and addresses diverse spill scenarios with precision.

Step 3: Select the appropriate thickness & size of absorbent needed

Having identified the nature of the liquids and selected the suitable format for the application, the next crucial step is to determine the optimal thickness (weight) and size of the absorbent material. Consider the following factors:

Absorption power: Select the thickness that aligns with the absorbent material's ability to quickly and efficiently absorb the targeted liquids.

Surface area: Choose the size of the absorbent material based on the dimensions of the area to be covered, ensuring adequate coverage for spill containment and clean-up.

Application specifics: Take into account the specific requirements of the application, whether it involves small-scale spills, large surface areas, or particular environmental conditions.

By carefully considering these factors, you can tailor the thickness and size of the absorbent material to the unique demands of your situation, optimising its performance and ensuring effective spill response.
