Gases In Cylinders
There are four key principles that should be adhered to when storing gas cylinders:
1. Locate the store in an external area on your site
2. Ensure that the store is fully secure
3. Locate the store in an area that has good natural ventilation
4. Ensure there are no sources of ignition and or combustible products in or near to the store that could provide fuel to a fire
Ensure that you correctly segregate your gases; the guidance isn’t complex, however it is critical that you understand it fully and if needs be you should seek advice from your gas supplier. Remember you insurance provider and local authority fire brigade may have a view on where you locate your store and to that end it is good practice to involve them in the decision making process.
Take a look at our gas cylinder stores for further recommendations on cylinder storage.
